Sugarplum Ring; Christmas Breads

1 recipe basic sweet roll dough
1/2 cup melted butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup whole blanched almonds
1 cup candied whole red cherries
2/3 cup dark corn syrup

Make sweet roll dough recipe. After chilling 1/2 hour, remove from refrigerator and divide dough into 8 parts. Cut each part into 10 pieces and shape into balls. Dip balls in melted butter and then into cinnamon-sugar mixture. Arrange balls in layers in two greased angel food pans.

Between the layers and on top spread the cherries and almonds. Mix corn syrup with leftover butter and drizzle over top. Cover with tea towel and let rise 1 hour. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes in a 350 F oven. Cool 5 minutes; invert pan and remove ring.
